Christina Quarles: In 24 Days tha Sun'll Set at 7pm at Hauser & Wirth

Christina Quarles re-imagines the human figure to reflect the complexity of our identities. Her practice that questions and dismantles assumptions and ingrained beliefs is celebrated with her first major solo exhibition at Hauser & Wirth. Stop by the gallery to examine the artist’s rich, layered visual language and see works produced during her 2022 residency in Somerset, England.

Michele Pred: Equality of Rights at Nancy Hoffman Gallery

Sonia Louise Davis: Resonant Frequencies, Blossoming Tones at Hesse Flatow

Utilizing a tufting machine, the artist creates swirling abstract compositions of yarn that leap off the wall. This exhibition is full of rich hues and exquisite geometric shapes that truly appeal to all the senses.

Jammie Holmes: What We Talking About at Marianne Boesky

Self-taught painter Jammie Holmes makes his New York debut with What We Talking About. Drawing upon personal memory, history, and contemporary realities, the exhibition examines and repositions perceptions, experiences, and themes of Black life. The collection of paintings welcomes visitors into intimate moments, sharing the vibrant and resilient culture, while also reminding us of the violent surveillance that threatens communities each day.

Vanessa German: Sad Rapper at Kasmin

Vanessa German’s experience growing up in Los Angeles in the 1980s comes to life in Sad Rapper, a portrait of a neighborhood. Although featuring bright colors, splashy patterns, and irresistible textures, the visual language of the sculptures should not distract from their important message on racial violence. The exhibition ultimately inspires healing through the artist’s challenging of dominate power structures, confrontation with injustice, and transformation of symbolic images.

Maria Klabin: Liquid Air at Nara Roesler

Maria Klabin expressed herself through dance, sculpture, and photography before finding painting as her chosen medium. This trajectory is honored in Liquid Air, a collection of paintings that exhibit the multi-medium influence on her practice. Klabin’s New York debut introduces viewers to her bewitching juxtaposition of the dreamlike with the quotidian.
