After working with hundreds of orgs on newsletters, here’s something I now know to be true: If your newsletter strategy doesn't include regular surveys of your audience, you don't have much of a newsletter strategy at all. Surveys are absolutely crucial to building a great newsletter strategy. They help you figure out how to build a better email product AND how to best market it to readers. And with Apple's MPP update, it's more important than ever to have additional metrics to understand if readers like and engage with your newsletters. Surveys are an amazing way to collect that data. So here's one of the best newsletter surveys I've ever seen. The Financial Times rolled out a survey this March — and since, they've collected more than 78,000 (not a typo!) responses from readers. Their Sarah Ebner and Michael Hoole explained how they did it, and how they're using all of that feedback to make big changes to their newsletter strategy. https://lnkd.in/e8uMD8gk

The FT built its own tool for the in-email part of the survey. Have you seen anything off the shelf that does that well?

A strategy isn't a strategy if it doesn't reflect what your audience needs! Love this.
